The Workshop took place on 19.05.2022 between

The location was online.
- Method: 6-3-5 and Six thinking hats
- In the 6-3-5 method we gavered ideas regarding two feature questions. 1. "How should Artists and Portfolios be discovered?" 2. "How can an Artist gather feedback about his portfolio?" Afterwards we did the six thinking hats method to gather ideas about the project as a whole. Results were documented on a Miro Board

List of Ideas (6-3-5 Method)
How should Artists and Portfolios be discovered?
- Portfolios can be provided with Tags. This Tags can represent the main focus area of an aritst and might come from a fixed tag pool or are completely customized
- Portfolios can be searched directly with the name of artist
- An Artist / A Portfolio can be provided with a Kind or Category, which would basically represent the profession like music, painter or architect
- A “Find similar artist” functionallity is thinkabale
- Artworks could be provided with a Title that would count into search queries
- Artist could affilate themselves with a art school and be discovered this way
How can an Artist gather feedback about its portfolio?
- Artist can file in Communication channels like E-Mail, Telephone, …
- Chat or Messaging
- A Comment section (distinct section on a portfolio) or maybe inline comments (comments directly on specific parts of the portfolio) would be thinkable
- Rating based on attributes like color harmony or mood
- Feedback form
- A distinct forum for artists
- Rating based on stars or thumb up/down
- Like / Favorite functionality
During further discussion the Like / Favorite idea sounded very promising to the PandArt team.
Six Thinking Hats
Blue (Process Control)
(Took notes during the process)
White (Objectivity, Neutrality)
- Portfolios for art schools are difficult to create, it is even usual to do a whole coaching on it
- Portfolios differ and especially the requirements for application purposes
- It is usual to create a distinct website as portfolio
- Maybe there are numbers about how many portfolios will be rejected because they are ill-formatted
Red (Personal Feelings, Subjective Opinion)
- Hopes:
- Gathering of an active community
- Real value creation for artists and support for them
- Artists don’t have to setup their own website and do not require additional infrastructure
- Fears:
- Marketing and how to attract artists
- What if artists don’t get any value and they don’t see a demand
- Revenue stream without advertisements
- Depending on how open the feedback function is hate-speech, shitposting may be taken into account and might even damage an artists reputation
- Might result into a glorified homepage builder
Black (Objective, Negative Arguments)
- Because artworks should not be compressed the storage needs are pretty high in relation to the attracted community
- It is difficult to find a good cut between freedom of arts and laws. For example the differentation between pornography and nude photography (ger: Aktfotografie)
Yellow (Objective, Positive Characteristics)
- Artists gather feedback from other artists with the same profession. Therefore, the feedback they get is more qualified
- Ease the process for application to art schools
- Especially if cooporations with art schools can be achieved
- Cooporations would also result into an eas of contact
- Free Access to Information
- Especially about how a portfolio should look like and how a art school expects to have a portfolio look like
Green (New Ideas)
- Cooportation with art schools
- Gather requirements from art schools
- Export function should adhere the requirements
- Selection of a art school format during export
- Paid highlighting functionality
- Textual Art like poems, lyrics or stories
