Inga

Summary

Description

Inga is a 42 year old Manager at a big, international furniture company (1). She lives in a small city in Germany about an hour away from her workplace (2). Her family has a small house where she lives with her loving husband and two children (3). Inga is always very enthusiastic and creative - at home and at work (4). She has her own office where she can play with her creativity because her job includes creating design proposals for the company’s show rooms (5). This is a very important feature of the company’s marketing strategy because customers, when looking for furniture in the physical shop, want to have an imagination of how the furniture looks like in a home, in the context of a room with other pieces (6). The redesign of these show rooms is Ingas job which takes a lot of time as the designs have to be creative, they have to include certain furniture which is given by the CEO and also there are temporary / seasonal themes to be considered like around christmas (7). The show rooms serve as marketing for how good the pieces would look like in a home but also customers need to get a visualization of the products to prevent purchases which are later returned because furniture looked different than expected (8). In such cases, the show rooms might need to be changed which required staff which costs money - nothing the CEO likes to see (9). Because of this, Ingas goals are to help customers with picking the right products, to show the best of certain furniture to sell more products and to increase the company’s revenue, but also to get more ideas for show room decoration / design (10). The company spends a lot of money on the tool Inga uses for this which is why her boss gets mad when a design is not used or does not look good in reality (11). Often Inga discovers the limits of the used tool when some colors of new products are not yet available or just look different on screen (12). This really makes a lot of her work obsolete / harder (13). She wishes for a better tool and better organization where she can configure everything about the furniture which is configurable in reality (14). Only then she can make the best out of it (15). Also for Inga’s job it simply is necessary to try many designs out and only one can be chosen at once so a cheaper solution, where used memory is not too important, would be ideal (16). All in all, Inga is very passionate about her work and always tries to give her best (17). When a show room design is in place, Inga often stands near it to find out about the customers reactions (18). It is valuable feedback for her (19). The company sometimes even does surveys (20). Inga also shares her designs with colleagues or her boss for reviews (21). This is mostly done via email and because this is done so often, it has become a pain for Inga to always export the file whenever she changed something, attach it to an email and send it (22). She would like to have one button in her app which does all this for her so her changes can be seen in real time for her reviewers (23).
